In the Xhosa tradition, each person is seen as being connected to a constellation of Ancestors and spiritual forces. A person’s first relationship is to oneself and his/her Ancestor’s/spirit guides. If this primary relationship is out of kilter, then it will present problems throughout one’s life (i.e. relationships, work, life-path, self esteem, depression, etc.). It is through one’s connection with the dream world that one is able to communicate with one’s Ancestors, spirit guides and soul. If people are not able to remember their dreams over a period of time, then this is seen as an illness.

The plant healing ceremony is traditionally performed in South Africa to help people to ‘see’ their way more clearly in their lives; to help them to ‘dream’, to open the way for them to ‘realize their destinies’. The idea behind it is to help re-charge and invigorate the spirit. It is a powerful process along the journey of dreaming, and helping people to remember their dreams. The herbs help people to integrate their ‘dream time’ experiences, and thus strengthen their spirit. People often report feeling invigorated, energized and very calm after these ceremonies.

For the first half of the event, Willem Zwart will facilitate a discussion on the dangers of psychological time–Ending of Time. He has studied Krishnamurti’s teachings for many years. He is the former Director of the Secondary School at Oak Grove School, the Krishnamurti school in the United States. He also taught at Brockwood Park School, the Krishnamurti school in England. He received his Bachelors Degree from UCLA and Masters Degree in Religious Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Currently, Mr. Zwart is pursuing a degree in Law at the Leiden Law School.

For the second half of the event, Paul Herder will facilitate a discussion on the educationally vision of J. Krishnamurti and Its practice–Revolutionary Minds. Since first being introduced to progressive educational practices in graduate school, Herder has tried to unlock the deeper potential of collaborative, inquiry-based approaches to learning while tackling the iconoclastic educational philosophy of J.
